Solum’s proposed scheme for Kingswood Station secured approval from local Councillors on the 15 February 2017 at a meeting of Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.
Following community feedback in September 2015 on initial proposals for 48 flats, Solum worked with the local community to radically redesign the scheme. The revised design, for 18 three and four bedroom family homes, each with two parking spaces and a private garden, better matches local aspirations for the site. The scheme has also been carefully designed to complement the local Conservation Area.
The Solum approach is to unlock the potential of Network Rail land in order to generate revenue which is reinvested into station improvements. At Kingswood these improvements will include:
- Upgraded pedestrian access and safety
- Landscaped public area
- 61 station car parking spaces (an increase of 12 spaces)
- Improved station car park layout and drop off facilities
- Additional lighting and CCTV
Peter Hughes, Director at Solum, said:
“We are delighted that this scheme has won the backing of local Councillors. We would like to thank everyone for the feedback received over the past 18 months and we look forward to delivering the station improvements to the residents of Kingswood.”
